## Grading

Your final trimester grade in math reflects:

- how well you understand the math concepts you learned, and
- how much effort you demonstrated throughout the entire trimester

## TESTS (Checkups, Unit Tests, & Projects)

60% of your total grade

- The curriculum is divided into units, each with its own booklet. Generally, for each unit, students can expect one or two checkups and an end-of-unit test.
- Checkups or Unit Tests missed due to absence must be made up within one week. Students should make an appointment to stay after school to take a makeup test.
- Long-term projects may be assigned throughout the year. Late projects are penalized one full letter grade (10%) for each late day.

## Homework

15% of your total grade

- Homework will be assigned frequently, as regular practice is a critical component to learning math.
- Homework assignments are generally worth 10 points each.

## Homework Quizzes

10% of your total grade

- Homework quizzes are periodic checks for understanding on problems assigned for homework.

## Partner Quizzes

10% of your total grade

- Partner Quizzes are quizzes that are taken cooperatively with a partner once per unit.

## Participation

5% of your total grade

- Items graded in this category reflect a student's class work and participation in math class.
- Students receive 10 points per week for being on task during class work and for being prepared with required materials and supplies.

## Extra Credit

Extra credit is not generally offered, as your trimester grade should reflect your learning and effort throughout the trimester. However some tests and projects provide opportunities to earn bonus points.

A: 93%

A-: 90%

B+: 87%

B: 83%

B-: 80%

C+: 77%

C-: 70%

D+: 67%

D: 60%

F: below 60%
